How Stylish Coffee Machines Show Fashion Isn’t Just About Clothing

In the fashion world, it’s easy to focus so much on clothing that we forget every item in the home has its own style. A great example of this is coffee machines. I’ve been searching for a coffee machine for a few weeks now (I had no idea there were so many different types), and it’s quite clear that coffee makers have their own style and trends.

The Varying Styles of Coffee Machines

Jura Coffee MachineTake the JURA range of coffee machines. These are known as bean-to-cup coffee machines because they produce coffee straight from beans. I expected these machine to be quite big and bulky, but they actually look great. Many have angled designs which I really like – and the black colour scheme is perfect for my kitchen.

Other models have different styles. Delonghi coffee machines, for example, are more modern and sleek. I don’t like the appearance of these as much, but it’s interesting how Delonghi have gone in a completely different direction to Jura.

It’s not just the machines themselves that have style though. There is a whole community based around crema art – which I find fascinating! The picture at the top of this post is a great example of some simple art, but it can get really complex. It’s great for getting inspiration.

A Gentle Reminder

Searching for a coffee machine is also a good analogy to explaining fashion and style to friends who don’t know much about it. We’re all so caught up in fashion and spend most of our working time talking to other people who also love fashion. This can lead to a weird “bubble” where we assume everyone has a high level of knowledge when it comes to the latest fashions and styles.

This obviously isn’t the case. I was very confused when I was learning about grind coarseness, tamp, how to make a cappuccino and why bean-to-cup coffee machines were different to filter machines. Even though I’ve just bought myself a Delonghi machine and loving the coffee, I’m still not sure about all the different features and settings. To an experienced barista this would all be obvious, but to me it was like a whole new world. It’s a reminder that everyone, including yourself, is a beginner at some point in almost every field – which is a humbling thought.

Conclusion

This has been a bit of a rambling post. But what I really wanted to get across is that style and fashion ideas can be found anywhere. Even from coffee machines!

P.s. If you’re looking for a coffee machine I highly recommend the Delonghi Eletta. It makes amazing coffee that wouldn’t be out of place in a coffee shop. It’s also simple to use – even for a beginner like me!
